@article{PSAGE, author = {Solomon Lebanidze}, title = { The imperial version of Ossetian national project}, journal = {Politics / პოლიტიკა}, year = {2017}, keywords = {Ossetian project; Shida Kartli; Tskhinvali region; Georgian-Ossetian conflict; Russia}, abstract = {Every nation percepts his past, present and future, the aspiration of the future of the nation determines the national idea, the implementation of the national idea is by the national project.Today’s Ossetian national project, with its anti- Georgian essence, in reality is the part of Great Russian imperial project.The most provocative manifestation of implementation of the Ossetian separatist project is a period after August 2008 war - 2009-2012, when the Ossetian separatist leaders, after breaking off  Tskhinvali region and Akhalgori municipality from the Georgian state, Ossetian political and academic elite, started debates the annexation of other Georgian territories for the “South Ossetia”.Regarding the historical component of the Ossetian national project, Ossetians are aborigines of the Caucasus and direct descendants of nomadic tribes of Alans, Scythians, and Sarmats.The interpretation of the history of Ossetian people is fundamentally unacceptable for the national projects of the neighbor nations – Karachai-Balkarians and Ingush.The issue regarding the unification of so-called two Ossetias is actually discussed in the political discourse of the North Ossetia-Alania and Tskhinvali region. The Ossetian and Russian politicians and experts consider the unification of the “twoOssetia” into one entity as an irreversible process. The last implication of this process is the so-called referendum, which was arranged in April of 2017 in Tskhinvali region. The issue of this so-called referendum was an addition of name “State Alania” for so-called “South Ossetia”.The production of the new national project for the Ossetian nation is on the agenda, which will harmonically exist with Georgian state and national projects of neighbor nations.}, issn = {2449-2833}, url = {https://test.psage.tsu.ge/index.php/Politics/article/view/32} }
