On the French Translation of 1921 Constitution of Georgia

  • Irakli Iakobashvili PhD. Head of the Georgian Parliament Archieve

Abstract

The article compares the Georgian version of the 1912 Constitution of Georgia to the French version, published in France in 1922, which is also endorsed by the Constituent Assembly. The French translation is conducted with high professionalism and reflects the main clauses of its Georgian equivalent. Nevertheless, there is some terminological and stylistic differences which made the French version more understandable for the French audience.
