The Act of Independence of May 26, 1921 – The Foundation of the 1921 Constitution of Georgia
Abstract
The paper discusses the issue of realization of the main principles (sovereignty of people and state, democratic republic, neutrality, neighborly relations with other countries, protection of the rights of citizens, guarantees of national minority rights) declared in the Act of Independence of Georgia (May 26, 1918) into the 1921 Constitution of Georgia and highlights debates over these issues taking place in the Constitutional Commission and the Constituent Assembly.References
